The taller Piton has a proper trail: two steep hours up through rainforest with a local guide, half the island laid out from 798 metres, then the knee-testing walk back down.
Sulphur Springs & the mud bath
You drive to the rim of the old crater, then paint yourself grey in the warm volcanic pools below it. The mud rinses off; the smell of sulphur follows you to lunch.
A catamaran down the west coast
The classic way south: out of the north by boat, the coast sliding past, both Pitons growing off the bow, snorkel and swim stops before the slow cruise home.

The Drive-in Volcano
The sign at Sulphur Springs calls it the world’s only drive-in volcano, and the road really does roll to the edge of a steaming, collapsed crater. Below it, warm grey pools where you smear volcanic mud on, let it dry, and rinse off in water heated from underneath. Old swimsuit essential — the sulphur stain is the souvenir.

Tet Paul’s Stairway to Heaven
A forty-five minute farm trail above Soufriere ends at a wooden staircase locals named the Stairway to Heaven. From the top platform both Pitons stand in one frame, with Martinique on the horizon on a clear day. It is the easiest big view on the island — most volcano day tours can add it.

The Pitons Themselves
